Meet Gary The Internet’s Most Chill Van Life Duck

I have captured a lot of wild things on camera over the years. Massive mountain ranges, intense action sports, and brutal backcountry terrain. But nothing prepared me for the sheer, unadulterated chill of Gary the duck. Most people think of ducks as hyperactive, constantly quacking, and always on the move. Gary completely shatters that stereotype.

He might actually be the most relaxed creature on the planet.

We were in the middle of working on the campervan conversion when Gary decided it was nap time. Instead of tucking into a corner or finding a quiet spot on the floor, he climbed right onto Nicole’s lap. Then, he did something completely baffling. He laid straight out, melting into her lap like a puddle of white feathers, and fully extended his long orange legs straight down between her knees.

The pose was hysterical. Pure, unfiltered relaxation.

Nicole was just sitting there laughing, gently shaking his webbed feet, and Gary didn't even flinch. He just stared up at the camera with total confidence, completely content with his life choices. He is the ultimate van build mascot, bringing a much-needed dose of calm to the chaotic process of building out a mobile home.
