The Aerial View That Will Change How You See Switzerland

The Aerial View That Will Change How You See Switzerland

I was leaning over the edge of a massive cliff face, trying to find an angle that truly captures the scale of the Swiss Alps. Normal horizon shots just don't cut it when the landscape drops straight down into a valley. The solution? Taking my drone past the point of comfort.

The view? Unreal.

We had to time the weather perfectly to get this level of visibility. It takes a solid understanding of wind currents and a lot of confidence in your signal to fly this close to a roaring waterfall.

The Shot

  • The camera peers directly over a sheer rock cliff surrounded by deep green pine forests.

  • Water cascades heavily down the vertical stone wall toward the lush valley floor below.

  • The drone slowly tilts upward to reveal a picturesque Swiss village nestled between massive mountain ridges.

Technical Specs: Shot on DJI Mavic 3 Cine, 4K resolution at 60fps, ND16 filter to manage the bright overcast sky, color graded using custom travel LUTs to make the greens and earth tones pop.

The drone sweeps down along the path of the water, mimicking the feeling of a free fall before smoothly panning up to frame the valley. I kept the flight path tight to the cliffside to create a sense of speed and depth against the stationary houses below. It takes patience to line up a reveal this smooth, but pushing the limits of your gear is how you bring an audience directly into the moment.
